For example, many of our suppliers maintain certifications such as Fair Trade, GOTS, or OEKO-TEX, and we require regular third-party audits to confirm safe, fair working conditions. We set clear goals and publicly report our progress so that we can continuously reduce waste, lower emissions, and improve resource efficiency. Transparency and measurable targets guide our efforts, ensuring that environmental responsibility and social integrity are fundamental to our decisions.
Sustainable Materials
Witzman prioritizes sustainable sourcing wherever possible. We aim to maximize the use of recycled, renewable, and responsibly produced fabrics in all our products. By selecting materials wisely, we can significantly reduce our environmental footprint – for example, recycled polyester has roughly 70% lower carbon emissions than virgin polyester. Each material is carefully vetted for its lifecycle impact (water use, chemical content, carbon footprint) so that only eco-friendly options are chosen. Below are key focus areas in our materials strategy:
- Recycled & Upcycled Fibers: We use recycled polyester, nylon, cotton, and other reclaimed materials (e.g. from plastic bottles or textile scraps) whenever possible. Recycled content requires far less energy to produce and can be recycled again.
- Organic & Renewable Fibers: We source organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, and other plant-based fibers that are grown with minimal pesticides and water. Using these renewable materials helps protect soil and reduce chemical runoff.
- Safe & Non-Toxic Treatments: All fabrics and finishes meet strict health standards (such as OEKO-TEX and Bluesign). We avoid harmful chemicals by choosing water-based and PFC-free coatings and non-toxic dyes, ensuring products are safer for people and the planet.
- Durable, Long-Lasting Design: We design products for longevity. A more durable product means less frequent replacement, so designing for quality and repairability is a core sustainability strategy.
Ethical Manufacturing
Witzman partners only with factories that uphold high social and environmental standards. We require fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and respect for workers’ rights at every facility we work with. Ethical guidelines (e.g. Fair Trade or SA8000) are enforced through independent audits and regular inspections. We also emphasize clean, resource-efficient production: our suppliers adopt energy-efficient technologies, water recycling, and waste reduction measures wherever possible. For instance, factories that use renewable energy and minimize water use not only reduce pollution but also benefit long-term business sustainability. In every step of manufacturing, transparency is key: we encourage open communication and continuous improvement so that our products are made in safe, fair environments with minimal environmental impact.

Witzman also engages customers in responsible disposal and reuse of packaging. We clearly label materials to facilitate recycling and encourage participation in any take-back or recycling programs available. By closing the loop on materials, we make sure that the packaging we do use stays out of landfills. Our ongoing innovation in packaging – from designing refillable options to experimenting with zero-waste shipments – ensures we continually move toward a more circular, low-waste model.
